The SDSU School of Music and Dance continues the celebration of its 75th Anniversary year with two free performances of an “Opera Arias” Extravaganza at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. on May 2 in Smith Recital Hall on the SDSU Campus.

The 12 p.m. program will be an operatic sampler of the full-length 7 p.m. program.
Performed by SDSU’s Opera Theater, “Opera Arias” is a rich collection of the best-loved arias of all time, chosen especially for these performances by the SDSU voice faculty.
“Undergraduate and graduate voice students will be joined by a wealth of alumni singers,” Kellie Evans-O’Connor, director of Opera Theater in a released statement. “You’ll hear selections from early opera to modern operas, all in their original languages. Everything from “Orfeo” to “Street Scene,” from Mozart to Mechem!”
Featured singers slated to appear in one or both of the concerts include undergraduates Lindsey Pino, Kayla Gautereaux, Mariah Muehler, Kacey Kurpinsky, Rachel Rothman, Mindy Chu, Alysa Hope, Siobahn Sung, Daniel Marshall, Jonathan Gonzales, Angel Mannion, Matthias Villwock and Thomas Lokensgard; Graduate students Erin McAdams, Kara Masek, Ji-hee Kim and Elly Roseberry; and esteemed Alumni Mary Ann Carr, Renee Calvo, Sarah LeClair Klacka, Rosy-Dawn Selwitz, Molly Whittaker, Shauna Hart Ostrom, Guy Monacelli, Bryan Balderman and Ron Banks. Piano accompanists’ are Michiko Lohorn, Christopher Allen, and Suzanne Shick.
Both the 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. concerts are free of charge and open to the public. Donations will be gratefully accepted to support future SDSU Opera Theater productions.
