The Storm got back to its winning ways Monday night at The Diamond against the division leading High Desert Mavericks with a 6-3 win. Rico Noel led the squad, going 3 for 4 including two stolen bases on the night.

Roach was previously with the Inland Empire 66ers and came to the Storm with a league leading record at 5-0. (Cherished Memories)
The Storm is now only a half game out of first in the south.
The home team did not waste time jumping out to a four run lead in the first, inning giving newly acquired Donn Roach some comfort room. Noel started off the game with a double that scooted past the third baseman and bounced to the left fielder. Second baseman Cory Spangenberg matched Noel with a double of his own that bounced off the right field wall, scoring Noel. Connor Powers joined the party hitting his double to right field to give the Storm a 2-0 lead. Two errors in the inning allowed both Powers and Luis Domoromo to score in the inning.
The Storm acquired Donn Roach in the San Diego Padres trade sending Ernesto Frieri to the Los Angeles Angels. Roach was previously with the Inland Empire 66ers and came to the Storm with a league leading record at 5-0.
Roach kept the unbeaten streak, going a scoreless five innings, allowing only two hits and collecting six strikeouts in the win.
High Desert got on the board in the seventh inning when Julio Morbin hit a home run up over the 37-foot wall in right field to cut the lead to 4-1.
In the bottom of the seventh, it was Spangenberg who hit his second double of the night that rolled all the way to the home bullpen in left field with two runners on to give the Storm a 6-1 lead.
The Mavericks scored two runs in the eighth by way of James Jones’ triple and a SAC fly to cut the lead in half now down 6-3.
Storm closer Kevin Quackenbush took the mound in the ninth, struck out two and recorded his league-leading eighth save of the season.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow night on a Fat Tuesday where fans can have all-you-can-eat concessions for $14.
The game begins at 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m.
