UPDATE: Paraglider crash victim dies and was identified as 52-year-old South Carolina resident Pamela Hargett. Hargett lost control and slammed into the side of the cliffs, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiners Office and Lifegaurds.
She was found unconscious and suspended on a cliff above Blacks Beach when rescuers reached her.
ORIGINAL STORY: The downed glider was reported about 12:30 p.m. south of the Torrey Pines Gliderport, according to lifeguard Lt. Nick Lerma.
Lifeguards repelled down the cliff and secured the pilot, who was unconscious, Lerma said.
He explained a helicopter would take the pilot to a hospital.

I know this may seem like a minor detail with a story such as this, but she was flying a paraglider, not a hang glider. The two forms of flying are quite different. Either way, a terrible accident.
