The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will be closed until tomorrow because of damaged phone lines across Tram Way, a spokeswoman said.

The tram was closed this morning so crews could fix the downed lines, tram spokeswoman Lena Zimmerschied said.

The tram is scheduled to re-open at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

It was unclear how the lines fell and whether the downed lines were connected to an outage that occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when a vehicle struck a power pole near Yorba Road east of Palm Canyon Drive.

That outage affected3,185 customers, and most had their power back in a few minutes.

About 140 customers were still without power as of 11 a.m., and there was no estimate when service would be restored, Southern California Edison spokeswoman Lauren Bartlett said.

Bartlett said she didn’t know if the Tram Way and Yorba Road incidents were connected.
