A masked man used a stun gun to rob a clerk at a Chevron gas station in Rancho Mirage today, a sheriff’s sergeant said.
The robbery was reported at 4:05 a.m. at the Chevron at 36-101 Bob Hope Drive. Two Hispanic men entered wearing ski masks, one of them carrying a semi- automatic handgun and the other a “Taser-type stun gun,” sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Devinny said.
One of the suspects used the stun gun on the clerk, and the men ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Devinny said. The clerk’s condition wasn’t immediately known this morning.
The suspects were last seen heading south through the gas station’s parking lot. No vehicle was seen, Devinny said.
One suspect was about six feet tall and carried a black semi-automatic handgun. The other suspect was average height with a thin build and carried the stun gun.
Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to contact the sheriff’s department at 760-836-1660, or Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867.
