A car veered off the road and sank into Harveston Lake Sunday night in Temecula, it was reported today.
Temecula Police officers responded to a report of a vehicle that drove into the lake at 11:23 p.m. on June 10 at the intersection of Harveston Drive and Lakeview Road.

According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report, the driver accidentally accelerated as she approached the intersection of Harveston Dr. and Lakeview Rd.
The car plowed through the intersection, “across the grass, over the concrete curb and into the lake where police found it approximately 20 feet into the lake and completely submerged,” the report said.
The woman and her passenger were able to escape the vehicle before it completely submerged, according to officials.
Paramedics tended to the occupants at the scene, but no visible injuries were reported at the time of the incident.
The report said that alcohol or drugs is not considered a factor in the case, however the investigation is ongoing.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team assisted with the removal of the vehicle from the lake.
