A Riverside police officer was in a hospital today with an left shoulder injured when his patrol car crashed into a power pole in Riverside, a police spokesman said today.
The officer was responding to a residential burglary in progress when he lost control of his car while trying to make a turn from Vine Street onto First Street and struck the pole near the Riverside (91) Freeway at about 9:30 p.m. Friday night, the spokesman said.
He was taken to Riverside Community Hospital and was treated for shoulder pain, he said.
The spokesman did not reveal any further details, including the name of the officer.
