Missing Rancho Mirage man found dead

A Rancho Mirage man was found dead in the Whitewater Wash area of Rancho Mirage on Saturday June 16, officials reported.

Officers from the Rancho Mirage Police Department were alerted that 55-year-old Steven Biorn was missing on the evening of Friday, June 15.  Officers learned he was last scene at his residence earlier that day.

Police officers searched Biorn’s residence but were unable to find the missing man.

After receiving additional details, officers returned to Biorn’s resicence to continue looking for him. Volunteers from the Desert Search and  Rescue unit assisted in searching for Biorn in the Whitewater Wash area.

The man was found by search and rescue personnel in the wash area near Frank Sinatra Drive, a Riverside County Sheriff’s report stated.

Officials said it appeared Biorn had been dead for some time and that foul play was not a factor in his death. The cause of death is pending.

Desert law enforcement officials advise all citizens to be cautious when walking in the desert during extreme heat conditions.
