‘American Idol’ finalist being considered for role on ‘Glee’

AMERICAN IDOL: TOP 24 SEMIFINALISTS: Jessica Sanchez, 16. San Diego, CA. CR: Michael Becker / FOX.

Jessica Sanchez, the Chula Vista teen who sang her way to a second-place finish on the recently completed season of “American Idol,” is close to landing a role on the Fox television show “Glee,” according to The Hollywood Reporter today.

Jessica, 16, would be cast in a multi-episode story arc in the middle of the program’s fourth season, the publication reported.

Two other major stars, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson, have already agreed to take temporary roles on the show. Jessica would reportedly join the cast of “Glee” after an “American Idol” summer concert tour.

She rocketed to stardom with a powerful voice and versatility, impressing judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler so much that when she came in last in online voting by viewers at mid-season, they used their one and only save on her.

Jessica eventually placed second to Phillip Phillips, of Leesburg, Ga.
