This year’s Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals raked in a combined $60.3 million in gross sales, according to numbers posted today on Billboard magazine’s website.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which was held over two weekends in April for the second straight year, brought in more than $47 million, and Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival, which expanded from two to three days this year, generated more than $13 million, according to billboard.biz.
Both festivals were held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio and are coordinated by Los Angeles promoter Goldenvoice.
All of the festivals’ weekends sold out, with passes ranging in price from $200 to $1,000. More than 158,000 people attended Coachella and more than 55,000 attended Stagecoach, according to the Billboard website.
The festivals ranked No. 1 and 2 on Billboard’s Boxscore chart, which lists concerts held around the world since late last year. The third-ranked event was two Eminem and Lil Wayne shows held last December in Sydney, Australia.
Last year, Coachella grossed $23 million and Stagecoach grossed about $10 million, according to Billboard.
General admission and VIP passes for the 2013 Coachella festival sold out last month, the same day they went on sale.
Next year’s festival is scheduled for April 12-14 and April 19-21.
