A new exhibit for reptiles and amphibians will open at the San Diego Zoo on the July 4 holiday, it was recently announced.
Visitors will be able to meander through reptile habitats and see rare frogs, turtles, snakes and crocodiles up close, through glass at “Reptile Walk,” which is just to the west of the venerable Reptile House.
Zoo spokeswoman Christina Simmons said the creatures on display will include poison frogs, leaf-tailed geckos, mossy frogs, Surinam toads and Mexican giant tree frogs; snake-necked turtles, pond turtles, matamata, Malayan giant turtles and box turtles; and rosy boas, red coachwhip snakes, giant horned lizards and king snakes.
They’ll be separated into different buildings for amphibians, turtles and California natives.
Chinese alligators will be on display in an open-air pool, according to the zoo.
