High winds expected to lash Coachella Valley

Strong winds gusting between 45 and nearly 60 miles per hour will buffet the Coachella Valley today, according to the National
Weather Service.

The agency scheduled a wind advisory from 2 to 10 p.m. During that time, driving could difficult, especially for motorists in high-profile vehicles, and blowing debris and sand may cause damage to windshields and signs, according to the NWS.

The windy weather is due to a trough moving inland to the north this afternoon and evening, creating strong onshore pressure gradients and resulting in stronger-than-normal winds through and to the east of the Banning Pass, according to the NWS.

When you have a link to “related articles” it would be nice if there was actually some relation. A year old article about the same general subject matter doesn’t wualify in my mind.
