Lake Elsinore Storm’s Liriano selected to MLB Futures Game

Storm outfielder Rymer Liriano was selected to be part of the World team in the Major League Baseball SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, a game featured in the All-Star Game festivities of the top prospects in the Minor Leagues.

Rymer Liriano was recently honored as a mid-season All-Star for the California League and is tied with teammate Everett Williams with a team high 35 RBIs, having increased his batting average 70 points to .303 in the last month.

He leads the team with 17 doubles in 61 games and is fourth in the league in stolen bases with 19, just behind teammate Cory Spangenberg.

Liriano joins James Darnell, Reymond Fuentes and Drew Cumberland, among others, as former Storm players who have played in the Futures game.

Liriano resides in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and was acquired by the San Diego Padres as a free agent back in 2007.

The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will be played at 2 p.m. PST on Sunday, July 8 and can be viewed on ESPN2, ESPN2 HD and MiLB.TV as well as heard on SiriusXM Channel 89.
