The deputy-involved shooting occurred just after noon in the 11500 block of Atlantic Avenue, following  ”a kidnapping in progress call,” said Deputy Jeffrey Gordon of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

“Witnesses saw the suspect trying to force a 15-year-old female…into his vehicle,” Gordon said.  ”When the victim was able to get away from the suspect’s grasp, the suspect drove his vehicle to the west side of Atlantic Avenue and stood in front of a local motel.”

The suspect put his right hand in his right front pocket and charged at the first arriving deputy as she attempted to park her patrol car, Gordon said.

“Believing the suspect was armed and in fear for her safety, the deputy fired several rounds from her duty weapon,” Gordon said.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was struck in the upper torso.

He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A weapon was not recovered from the suspect and the deputy was not injured, Gordon said.

The attempted kidnapping victim sustained minor injuries to her neck and chest, Gordon said. Detectives believe she did not know the suspect.

The description of what took place is not correct.I don’t know about the attempted kidnapping part of it, but my husband and son came upon the scene as it unfolded. They were going to work and pulled over to the side of Atlantic because a sheriff car with lights and siren on was approaching. As they waited, they saw the car with a female deputy driving come up the street and make a u-turn, which put her in front of the motel. At that point, a shirtless male with his hands raised in the air came running out from the motel entrance and ran towards the patrol car. When he got to the car door, the deputy had the door open and she shot him 3 times immediately. He did not have his hands anywhere near his pockets, they were raised up in the air, as to let them know he was not a threat. And he did not pull up in a car.Another eyewitness, the lady that the girl had ran to for help, described the exact same events.Whether this man was really guilty of the attempted kidnapping or not, his fatal mistake was running toward the cop car, arms raised or not.You just don’t do that.He should have came out and stood with his hands up, because a cop will shoot first and ask questions later. Then a court of law could have judged him.

I believe Mary. They pull their bullshit stories all of the time. Trigger happy pigs.
