Murrieta: Man, skateboarder struck minutes apart in separate incidents

A skateboarder was struck by a motorist Friday night on Jefferson Avenue and Nutmeg Street in Murrieta, it was reported.

According to Murrieta Police Sgt. Matt Henry, the 16-year-old boy was crossing the intersection when he was struck  by a vehicle.

“I don’t know the light conditions at the time (of the accident), but (the skateboarder) was struck  by the vehicle and he suffered head injuries,” Henry said.

The boy was transported by ambulance to Inland Valley Medical Center.

His identity and condition are not known at this time.

In a similar, but unrelated incident, a 60-year-old man was struck by a Mercedes sedan while walking near Kalmia Street  and Jefferson Avenue.

Both incidents occurred within minutes of each other, shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday, it was reported.
