Moreno Valley: Man suffers gunshot wound to his chest, suspect at large

A man with a gunshot wound to the chest showed up at about 6 p.m. Monday July 2 at the Riverside Regional Medical Center, officials reported.

Officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to the hospital and learned the victim was shot with a handgun following an argument with another man in the area of Cottonwood Avenue and Moreno Beach.

After firing a single shot at the victim, the suspect, an Hispanic male, fled the scene in a 1980s red truck, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report.

The victim’s friend who was with him during the shooting drove the wounded man to the hospital, Sgt. Horton said in a report. He is currently in stable condition.

The Moreno Valley’s Special Enforcement Team responded and determined a Hispanic male and female in their late 20s to early 30s may have been present with the gunman during the incident.

Anyone with additional information regarding this crime is urged to contact Investigator Viveros or Officer Navarette at 951-486-6700.
