Deputies arrested a man who allegedly kicked in the front door of a house near Riverside and threatened a woman if she did not pay off a debt, a sheriff’s spokesman said today.
Michael Stuart Nyx, 27, had an AK-47 rifle in his possession when he was arrested Thursday, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Samuel Flores.
A woman who lives in the 1000 block of Center Avenue in Highgrove, a community north of Riverside, called deputies on June 30 to say a man had just kicked in her front door and threatened her and her relatives if she did not give him money, Flores said.
The suspect was able to flee before the deputies arrived, according to the sergeant. It was unclear whether he took any money.
Deputies arrested him Thursday in the 1100 block of Fountain Street in Highgrove, Flores said.
Nyx was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside for suspicion of burglary, making criminal threats, receiving stolen property, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition and possession of an assault weapon, Flores said.
He was released today after posting $35,000 bail, jail records showed.
