Costa Mesa police responding to a call that an armed man was inside a home arrived in time to hear a single gunshot and found a woman who later died, police officials said.
A suspect was taken into custody, Costa Mesa police Lt. Mark Manley said.
The situation was reported at 6:24 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of Redwood Avenue.
Officers immediately entered the residence and found a woman who had suffered a gunshot wound to her chest, Manley said. She was taken to Western Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
A man believed to be the suspect was located inside the house and taken into custody without incident, Manley said.
Preliminary information indicates the man and woman had a domestic relationship. Their names were being withheld pending further investigation and notification of the victim’s family, he said.

I hope everyone here remembers not to jump to conclusions. Yes, losing a life is sad by any means, but I happen to personally know the suspect here and I can certainly understand how things could have gone this far. My condolences are with both families, but I will stand behind my opinions. I hope the truth comes out in trial.
I also personally knew the suspect. Understanding how “things could have gone this far.” is an incredibly ignorant thing to say. Nothing justifies murder and I invite you to look into the eyes of my youngest brother and tell him you can understand. I hope the truth does come out in trial, and I hope your opinions are proved justly wrong for the sake of the injustice that my family has been dealt.
Jump to conclusions!!!! If you can understand how things have gone this far then you are as sick as the bastard that did this. ANYONE in thier “right” mind would not have done this oh wait he wasn’t, it’s called drugs and alcohol. Yes, it will all come out in court and I will be their personally to look that bastard in the eyes. His family still have him here(even though he will rot in prison) but her family and friends will never get to see or talk with her again. I can not believe how ignorant people are.
This woman illegally gained control over this company. She lied to the state to get contractors license. You must have 4 years experience to get the license and filed for cfo behind toms back. She was embezzling all the money. There is plenty of proof dont worry. She also did insurance fraud on the boat they owned. Took out the insurance after it hit another boat. Took insurance out after the fact to pay the person. She filed for CFO after Tom stopped giving her the money. Many many facts to come out. NOBODY SAYING HE WAS IN HIS RIGHT MIND WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HE OBVIOUSLY SNAPPED AND WAS TEMPORARILY INSANE.
