Menifee woman leads police on chase through Temecula, Murrieta

A  Menifee woman was arrested after leading police officers on a chase through Temecula and Murrieta before crashing on Winchester Rd., it was reported today.

Patricia Louise Baskett

According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report, Patricia Baskett, 59, was involved in a family disturbance just before 8 p.m. Saturday night at a residence located in the 40000 block of Annapolis Road in Temecula.

Baskett had allegedly been making threats to family members, the report said.

At the scene, a Temecula police officer observed Baskett driving her red Nissan Versa erratically in the same neighborhood, officials said.

The officer attempted to pull Baskett over, but instead, she took off — running stops signs and driving at a high rate of speed through the streets of Temecula and into Murrieta.

Murrieta Police officers assisted in the chase, but eventually all ground units discontinued the pursuit, allowing a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter to follow Baskett from the air.

Baskett continued to swerve, run through red light and drive recklessly before crashing into two vehicles at Winchester Road at the I-15 overpass, officials said.

Baskett received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

She was then booked into Southwest Detention Center.

The other motorists were not injured.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Temecula Police Department at (951) 696-3000.
