Cathedral City police arrested a drunken driver who they say ran a stop sign and nearly collided with a police car, a sergeant said today.
Gregorio Perez, 59, of Cathedral City, was arrested on Cathedral Canyon Drive near Buddy Rogers Drive about 9:25 p.m. Saturday and booked on suspicion of drunken driving, according to Cathedral City police Sgt. Corwin de Veas.
Police were responding to a reports of an armed robbery outside a convenience store in the 37000 block Cathedral City Drive, when they spotted Perez and stopped his vehicle, according to police.
The two robbery suspects got away.
A man in his 50s, who was uninjured, told police some cash was taken from him.
