Officers responded to the 5000 block of Wilson Street in Jurupa Valley and discovered a man who had suffered a gunshot wound.

The investigation revealed that the man was riding an off-road vehicle on the suspect’s property near an easement road, Sgt. Jerome Porterfield wrote in a report.

The victim was searching for a lost pet when 48-year-old Katherine Flores approached him.  The two exchanged words and Flores shot at the man, then called 911.

The victim was transported to a hospital and is being treated for his injury.

Flores was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, a Riverside County Sheriff’s report stated.

Anyone with further details regarding this crime is urged to contact Deputy R. Carrasco at the Jurupa Valley Station at 951-955-2600.
