Officers with the Wildomar Police Department arrived within minutes of a call reporting a bank robbery inside the Albertsons grocery store in the 23800 block of Clinton Keith Rd., it was reported.
Once on scene, investigators learned that a woman entered the store, approached the teller and demanded money just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24 at the U.S. Bank located inside the Albertsons.
The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled on foot.
According to a City News Service report, similar robberies occurred when the “Plain Jane” bandit struck twice Tuesday, holding up a Buena Park thrift store in much the same way she has four previous banks in Los Angeles and Riverside counties, the FBI reported.
No injuries were reported in Tuesday morning’s heist at the U.S. Bank branch at 5470 Beach Blvd., authorities said.
Later, the FBI’s Laura Eimiller said Plain Jane was believed to be the person who demanded cash at the U.S. Bank in Wildomar.
The moniker “Plain Jane” derives from how witnesses have described the bandit, who has either slipped tellers a note or verbally commanded them to give her money while indicating she has an accomplice waiting for her outside, according to the FBI.
She is also suspected of robbing two banks in Moreno Valley Monday, as well as banks in Santa Fe Springs and Whittier in the past two weeks.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic female adult, 40 to 45- years-old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6 tall, 170-180 pounds, wearing a turquoise colored short-sleeved shirt and a floor length multi-colored skirt.
She may have used a four-door silver vehicle with a sun roof to make her getaway.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Holder at the Wildomar Police Department at 951-245-3300, or after hours and weekends by calling 951-776-1099.
