Murrieta man allegedly rapes, robs woman at Temecula motel

A Murrieta man is in custody for a rape and robbery that occurred last month at a Quality Inn in Temecula, it was reported today.

Melbrough Williams, 44, was arrested after a month-long investigation and is being held at the Southwest Detention Center.

According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report, officers from the Temecula Police Department investigated an alleged rape and robbery that occurred June 28 after learning that a male suspect met the female victim at her motel room.

“Detectives from the Temecula Police Department were assigned to the case and conducted a follow-up investigation during the weeks that followed,” the report said.

The suspect was tracked to Costa Mesa and after alerting the Costa Mesa Police Department, Williams was detained and arrested without incident.

Additionally, a search warrant was served just after midnight on July 28 at the suspect’s residence in the 40300 Block of Jacob Way in Temecula.
