One lucky ticket with all six numbers in Friday’s multi-state Mega Millions draw worth $52 million was sold at a Kwik Stop store in Fremont, Calif., a California Lottery official announced.
No tickets with five matching numbers but no matching Mega number were sold, the lottery official said.
California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to be paid on a pari-mutuel basis.
The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 4, 8, 43 and the Mega number was 26.
The drawing was the seventh since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 175,711,536, according to the Mega Millions website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 40.
The Mega Millions game is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The jackpot for Tuesday’s draw will be $12 million.
