Get your fitness on in Temecula wine country

Experts say that the key to living a long and happy life is living in balance and Temecula wine country is clearly heeding that advice.  In addition to offering an abundance of award-winning wine and exceptional cuisine, several wineries now include fitness opportunities for locals to try.

Wiens Family Cellars

“Yoga in the Vines” is offered at 8 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday. “Yoga in the Vines at is an awesome and unique way to get your Zen on,” said Events Manager Jamie Purington.  “Michelle from Harmony Art & Yoga Studio takes this yoga class to a whole new level. With sweepings views of the vineyard paired with live music and followed by tastes our hand crafted wine, it just doesn’t get any better than that.”  Cost is $15.

Viva Vino Wine Bar

Salsa lessons are offered from 7 to 8  p.m. every Thursday night and the dance floor stays open until 11:30 p.m.  Located in Old Town Temecula, Viva Vino serves Spanish and Argentinian-style wines, including a complete line up from Temecula winery Masia de Yabar.  Guests can arrive early for Spanish Tapas and dance the night away.

Leoness Cellars

“Body & Vine” is offered once a month with additional classes to be scheduled based on demand.  “While overlooking Leoness Cellars’ breathtaking Rolling Hills Estate Vineyard, guests are able to indulge their senses and revive strength, balance, and flexibility,” said winery representative Amanda Livaudais.  “Led by JP Ruyle, a certified instructor and has been practicing since the mid-90s, they embark on a journey within the life of the vine, through vibrant movement of the body. The class concludes with a specialized pairing of our refreshing wines, seasonal fruits, and artisan cheeses.” Cost is $35 for pre-registration (Wine Club $31.50), $40 at check-in (Wine Club $36) and $18 without wine & cheese (Wine Club $16.20).

South Coast Winery Resort & Spa

Resort and spa quests guests have complimentary access to South Coast’s Fitness Center, including cardio and strength training equipment along with the outdoor heated saltwater pool.  Monthly Fitness Center memberships are available and local residents can learn more about cost and benefits by visiting www.southcoastwinery.com.  Groups and guests may book a special Vino-VInyasa class with instructor Christina Nemen for an 80-minute yoga and wine tasting experience.  Cost is $35.

Wine Country Trails by Horseback

The “Ride the Vines” tour takes guests on a 90-minute guided horseback tour of Temecula vineyards concluding with a 5 – 6 taste wine tasting at Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyards, Cougar Vineyard & Winery,  Masia de Yabar Vineyard & Winery or Danza del Sol Winery.
