Gun-toting carjacker remains at large

A man escaped injury after he was carjacked by a gunman on July 30 just after 4 p.m. in San Jacinto, officials reported.

Officers responded to the 600 block of State Street after receiving a call regarding the incident.

The victim told officers he was sitting in his car when a man approached his car and asked for a lighter, Sgt. Manning stated.

The suspect spoke with the unsuspecting driver and then whipped out a small black and silver semi-automatic handgun and shoved it against the vicitim’s ribcage.

The victim quickly exited the vehicle and watched as the carjacker drove out of the parking lot, a sheriff’s report stated.

The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male in his 20’s. He was approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build, several tattoos, gauged ears and was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt, black shorts, white knee-high socks and black shoes.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department strongly advises all citizens to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity.
