A Palm Desert man was arrested for driving drunk after he sped away from the scene of an accident, officials reported.
Palm Desert police officers responded to the accident on Monday July 30 and discovered a damaged Volkswagen Jetta at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Portola Avenue.
Witnesses told officers a black Ford Expedition hit the Jetta and drove off at a high rate of speed. The Ford sustained massive front end damage and was losing parts as it fled the scene, Sgt. Dan Devinny said.
Officers followed a fluid trail to the 42000 block of Bodie Road and found the Ford. They arrested 50-year-old Shan Jacobson on charges of driving drunk.
