It took just one day for former Lake Elsinore Storm catcher Eddy Rodriguez to make his presence known in the big leagues.

In his first start as a Major Leaguer after being called up by the San Diego Padres, Rodriguez homered today off of Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto in his first career at-bat.

The ball carried 416 feet over the wall in left center field and into the stands at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
It was a blast heard round the world — or at least at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore — where Lake Elsinore Storm staff had gathered in the front office to watch the fan favorite at the plate.
Rodriguez took a swift turn around the bases before being greeted by high-fives and cheers from his new teammates.
The blast put the Padres on the board, making it a 6-1 game in the top of the third inning, however the Reds held on for the 9-4 win.
