Deputies make 10 arrests at Perris checkpoint

Deputies arrested three suspected drunken drivers and seven others on felony and misdemeanor warrants during an overnight sobriety checkpoint that ended today in Perris, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Deputies stopped 1,415 vehicles and conducted seven field sobriety tests between 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. today at the checkpoint set up on Ramona Expressway near Interstate 215, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Glenn Williams.

One person was arrested on a felony warrant and six others were arrested on misdemeanor warrants, according to Williams.

In addition, there were 47 unlicensed and suspended drivers sent to court, 24 vehicles towed, 15 impounded for 30 days and one child safety seat citation was issued, the sergeant said.
