Four-year-old Riverside girl, woman killed in Ontario crash

A 22-year-old woman and a 4-year-old Riverside girl were killed when the car the woman was driving was rear-ended after she stopped it on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Ontario, a San Bernardino County coroner’s spokesman said today.

The crash was reported at 8:13 p.m. Saturday on the westbound 60, east of the Vineyard Avenue offramp.

The driver of the car, Davidea Farber, 22, of San Bernardino, stopped the 1998 Mercury for an undetermined reason in the No. 3 lane of the freeway and the car was hit from behind by a U-haul truck, according to the coroner’s office.

Despite being restrained in a car seat, 4-year-old Adriana Zenteno, of Riverside, died at the scene, the coroner’s officials said in a written statement.

Farber had stepped out of the Mercury, and the impact of the crash threw her into the freeway, authorities said.

Farber was pronounced dead 20 minutes later at Kaiser Permanente Ontario Medical Center, coroner’s officials said.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating why the Mercury stopped in the road.
