Parents of both returning students and incoming freshmen to Chaparral High School are invited to attend Chaparral 101, it was announced today.
The parent orientation offers a choice of two sessions — 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. — and is planned for Friday, August 10.
Both scheduled sessions coincide with freshman orientation.
Parents will meet in Room 323 at the school. Directions to class will be posted, and light refreshments will be served.
Parents will hear lessons learned from other parents, take a tour of the school website and campus and meet Principal Gil Compton and new Co-Principal Penny Kubly.
“The purpose of Chaparral 101 parent orientation is to familiarize parents, especially freshmen parents, with the school. If you’ve not been on a high school campus before, it can be overwhelming for students and even more so for parents. Our school values family involvement as a key component of student success, and we want parents to feel welcome and comfortable at Chaparral,” said Brenda Coalter, CHS Parent-Teacher-Student Association president in a released statement.
“High school students need adult support now more than ever, and there are many ways for parents to feel connected and be involved at home and on campus. Together, we’ll learn dates for key meetings, contact information for departments, and insider tips on how parents can best support their student,” she added.
Chaparral High School is located at 27215 Nicolas Road, Temecula.
