Coachella: Woman struck, killed by train

A woman was struck and killed by a train today near the border of Coachella and Indio, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

The accident was reported near Avenue 48 and Grapefruit Boulevard around 5:15 a.m., sheriff’s Deputy Albert Martinez said. The woman’s name was not immediately released.

Martinez said authorities were still investigating.
