The 62-year-old entertainer was immediately sentenced to three years probation and a three-month alcohol program, according to Jane Robison of the District Attorney’s Office.

Two other misdemeanor DUI charges were dismissed as a result of the plea entered by an attorney on behalf of Springfield, who did not appear at the Airport Branch Courthouse.

The case stemmed from a May 1, 2011, traffic stop by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy near Trancas Canyon Road. Springfield — known for the 1981 hit “Jessie’s Girl” — was released early the next morning. In addition to his fame as a singer, Springfield portrayed Dr. Noah Drake on “General Hospital” and has appeared in numerous other TV shows.
