Off a beaten path that showcases some of the most prestigious wineries in Temecula wine country lies the less-traveled, but truly unique De Portola Wine Trail.
Featuring nine boutique wineries that dot a rolling landscape of fragrant vineyards and sun-drenched hillsides, the De Portola Wine Trail is a favorite among wine aficionados who seek the quiet charm that the region affords.
Family-owned and intimate, the wineries include: Cougar Vineyard & Winery, Danza del Sol Winery, Frangipani Estate Winery, Gershon Bachus Vintners, Keyways Vineyard & Winery, Leonesse Cellars, Masia de Yabar Winery, Oak Mountain Winery, and Robert Renzoni Vineyards.
While there are many reasons to visit, including the De Portola Wine Trail’s popular Big Red Fest in April, the quickly-advancing California Wine Month in September makes August the perfect time to get to know this “family” of wineries.
So, in the coming weeks, follow SWRNN as we explore each of these special spots that some describe as the heart of Temecula wine country.
Along the trail:
Fine wine, exceptional dining define Leoness Cellars
Gershon Bachus Vintners applies a personal touch to wine
Warmth, ambiance await guests at Keyways Winery
Robert Renzoni Vineyards honors heritage, history
Big things ahead for Cougar Vineyard & Winery
As it was with the trail’s namesake historic explorer Gaspar de Portola, it will be a journey of discovery that just may bring some new and wonderful thing to your life.
If you already have a favorite among these wineries, be sure to tell us so in the comments section below. And if there are certain features and fine wines that we need to know about, tell us that, too.
Until then, we’ll see you on the trail!
