The Temecula/Murrieta Rescue Mission relies on donations and food drives in an effort to help local families stay nourished.
A food drive has been organized with the Murrieta Panther Football and Cheer League joining forces with Heart for Hunger-Temecula that runs from Aug. 6 – Aug. 18.
“Our organization believes we can make a difference everyday,” Panthers spokesperson Kim Pederson said.
Items that the drive is looking for include dry goods like peanut butter, canned meat, crackers, canned fruit, cereal, instant rice and canned pasta meals. Personal care items include toothpaste, razors, shampoo, blankets, hand and body soap, band aids and children’s Tylenol.
Teams are collecting donations with a prize being awarded to the team with the most goods.
The Panthers organization will be accepting donations from the public at their Opening Day Luau scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Murrieta Town Square in Murrieta.
