Semi-finalists to compete at 4th Annual BGC Idol event

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest County and the Rotary Club of Old Town Temecula recently announced the 44 semi-finalists who will compete at the 4th Annual BGC IDOL Semi-Final Competition held on Aug. 12, at the Temecula Community Recreation Center amphitheater.

“The BCG IDOL event has proven to be an amazing journey for these very talented kids to take the stage and perform for family, friends and the community,” said Maryann Edwards, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest County in a released statement. “The excitement continues to build and the community is in for a real treat when the kids perform this weekend in the next round of the competition.”

The first round of auditions was held in May and June. A group of 44 kids was invited back to audition in the semi-final show at the Temecula CRC on Aug. 12,  and then have a chance to compete in the finals on Sept. 9 at the Old Town Community Theater.

“We have had an amazing turnout through the first rounds of auditions with more than 200 participants, up by 25 percent over last year’s field,” said Steve Amante, event chair. “The talent continues to amaze our judges and we look forward to this weekend’s performances when the semi-finalists showcase their voices to beat the competition.”
