School shopping gets a lift at local malls

Back to school means more than shopping in Southwest Riverside — it’s an adventure as area malls host hordes of shoppers who are preparing for the school year and escaping the sweltering heat.

The Farmers Market, held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday is a fun, weekly staple and tons of back-to-school deals can be found at such stores as Macy’s and Gymboree.

Sure, you can shop until you drop with all the great back-to-school sales, but guests at Victoria Gardens are urged to sit for awhile and enjoy some great jazz music. Guitarist Vin D’ Onofrio will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 17 and jazz vocalist Rick Michael will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 18.

Kids will also have the chance to say goodbye to summer at the Wild, Wild West event planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 18.
