Man dies in rollover accident, blown tire caused the crash

An SUV passenger ejected in a rollover crash on Interstate 10 caused by a rear-tire blowout was identified today as 20-year-old resident of Ontario.

Joshua Terriquez was declared dead at the scene of the wreck, which was reported in eastbound lanes about a half-mile east of Date Palm Drive about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 14.

He and two other passengers were thrown out of the vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Five other people who had been in the 2002 Mitsubishi Montero driven by 23-year-old Rudolfo Flores of Pico Rivera were seriously injured when the left rear tire blew out, CHP Officer Joe Zagorski said.

Two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

    Wow, I have read so many stories like this one in the past week. It is so scary to think that when your tire blows, it could kill you.

    Just a small correction, my son died at 7:20 am not p.m, and yes, unfortunately we have been reading about more and more cases like this, please let it be a lesson to all the young kids traveling to wear your seat belt at all times… my son always had his seat belt on but he decided to go to sleep and removed it… He never woke up again…
