Residents wishing to support local veterans are invited for a great meal from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 25 at Pizza Factory located at 25908 Newport Road in Menifee.
Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from all the meals purchased that day will benefit the Post 1956 building fund of the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
“We are currently in the process of looking for a building in Menifee to enable us to facilitate the needs of our Menifee Afghan and Iraq veterans returning from active duty,” said Senior Vice Commander Peter Maroosis.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, with its auxiliaries includes 2.2 million members in approximately 8,100 posts worldwide.
Its mission is to “Honor The Dead By Helping The Living” through veterans’ service, community service, national security and a strong national defense.
Annually, VFW members and its auxiliary contribute more than 13 million hours of volunteerism in the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and National Volunteer Week, according to Maroosis.
“We remain steadfast in our resolve to perpetuate the memory and history of our fallen comrades and to assist their widows and orphans,” Maroosis said.
Guests should tell the order taker at the time of purchase that they are there for the VFW fundraiser.
