San Diego police SUV catches fire after Chargers game

An SUV owned by the San Diego Police Department burst into flames near City College following the San Diego Chargers home game early today, and was a total loss.

The fire was at 1 a.m. near the southern end of Route 163, near 10th Avenue.

According to broadcast reports, the SDPD recruitment vehicle driven by a police sergeant who was returning from Qualcomm Stadium after the game when
it caught fire.

San Diego firefighters responded quickly, but were unable to save the SUV, which was destroyed.
