“We have built a great winning tradition over the last 12 years with the Padres, winning two Cal League Championships and getting into the playoffs 10 of the 11 seasons and looking like we will again be in line for another playoff spot this season,” said Storm President Dave Oster. “We hope to build on our success and create a bigger and better Storm and Padres brand in the So Cal area for years to come.”

The Storm have won League Championships twice during their time as a Padres affiliate including co-champion title in 2001 and most recently in 2011. There have been 46 Storm players that have made their Major League debut with the Padres including players such as Jake Peavy, Xavier Nady, and Chase Headley.

“We are thrilled to extend our relationship with the Lake Elsinore Storm for another two seasons,” said Padres Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes.  “From Gary Jacobs to Dave Oster and Chris Jones, there is no question the Storm are one of the finest run organizations in minor league baseball.  To have The Diamond located right outside San Diego is a perfect fit for our organization and our fans.”

The San Diego Padres and The Storm work together in funding programs in the local community such as: the Thunder Dog Pound, providing area non-profits with tickets to a Storm game, the annual Anti-Bullying Night at a Storm game and the Head Start Father/Son outing and back-to-school shopping spree for local low income families.

“Community involvement is something that is very important to our organization,” said General Manager/Vice President Chris Jones. “We are glad that the Padres share those beliefs and have helped in our endeavors.”
