A 62-year-old Calimesa man was arrested today on suspicion of murdering his wife.

Edwin Gerard Fenty was arrested after admitting that he fatally stabbed 58-year-old Beverly Gaiter-Fenty in the couple’s house at 126 East Avenue L, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Fenty, who is being held without bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside, allegedly summoned deputies to the home around 1 a.m., saying he had just killed his wife, sheriff’s officials said.

“ Deputies responded to the location and contacted Fenty outside the front of his residence,” according to a statement from the department. “Fenty was detained, and deputies entered the residence and located a black female adult deceased in the hallway.”

The cause of death appeared to be multiple stab wounds, according to sheriff’s investigators.

A motive was not disclosed.
