The accident happened around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Glen Oaks Road and Camino Del Vino, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The pickup truck veered off the road and careened down a hillside with a horse trailer hooked on, a fire department spokeswoman said.
It was unclear whether the truck or trailer overturned.
The driver walked away from the wreck with minor injuries.
However, two engine crews a truck company were called in to extricate the steed, which was also injured, though not seriously, and placed into the care of Department of Animal Services personnel about two hours later, a fire department spokeswoman said.
