Coachella: Gunman robs AutoZone, suspect at large

Authorities sought the public’s help today in finding a gunman who held up an AutoZone in Coachella.

The robbery at 50700 Harrison St. was reported about 9:40 p.m. Monday, sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Frederick said.  A gunman demanded cash from a employee and got an undisclosed sum, he said. Another employee activated an alarm.

“The suspect managed to escape with an undisclosed amount of money,” Frederick said.

The suspect was described as a black man, about 5 feet 6 inches and 140 pounds, wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Anyone with more information as to the name or whereabouts of the robber was asked to call deputies at 760-863-8990.
