Haystack catches fire in Blythe

About 170 tons of hay caught fire in Blythe today, a county fire department spokeswoman said.

The blaze was reported around 6:30 a.m. in the 16500 block of Lovekin Boulevard.

Firefighters expected to be at the scene for a few hours, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

No injuries were reported, but the blaze caused an estimated $30,600 in damage.

The cause was under investigation.
