Levee at Eagle Canyon Dam gives way in Cathedral City

Heavy rainfall today resulted in flooding that closed East Palm Canyon Drive between Golf Club and Cathedral Canyon drives in Cathedral City.

The area was closed until further notice because a levee at Eagle Canyon Dam broke, Cathedral City spokesman Allen Howe said.

He said there was also “considerable” flooding at Tram View Road in Palm Springs.

Rain was reported around the Coachella Valley, and the area is under a flash-flood watch until tonight.
