A sudden, powerful storm that slammed the Moreno Valley area sent mud and rainwater coursing through several intersections, trapping at least one motorist and sending mud and debris into more than a dozen homes on a cul de sac.
The storm blew through the area late this afternoon, and runoff quickly inundated the intersection of Oliver Street and Cactus Avenue.

At least one motorist had to be rescued from a vehicle that became swamped by the muddy water, KCAL9 reported.
The mud also poured into a cul de sac on Hazeltine Way, pushing some parked cars aside as it coursed into some garages and backyard swimming pools and flowed up to some residents’ doors.
There was no immediate word on how many homes may have been damaged in the sudden downpour and resulting flooding.
