According to the National Weather Service, a storm capable of producing flash flooding could move into the region, bringing with it possible thunderstorms and lightning to some cities in Riverside County.
A flash flood warning was issued for parts of Southwest Riverside earlier today until about 2 p.m., and some areas are now experiencing rain.
Around Riverside County at least one incident had firefighters attempting to reach people stuck in a vehicle with water reported up to the windows at the intersection of Cactus Avenue and Oliver Street in Moreno Valley, according to a Riverside County Fire Department report.
Residents are reminded to not drive their vehicles into areas where the water covers the roadway as the depth of the water may be deceivingly deep.
Also, the National Weather Service urges drivers to not attempt to cross “swiftly flowing water” by car.
