San Diego: Coaster train crash sends two people to hospital

Two people were seriously injured today in a crash involving a Coaster train, a tractor-trailer and a car in Old Town, authorities said.

The crash at Pacific Highway and West Washington Street in San Diego was reported at about 7:40 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Medics took one person to UCSD Medical Center and another to Scripps Mercy hospital, said a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher. The extent of their injuries was unclear.

Trains in the area were still operating but probably at a delayed speed, a sheriff’s dispatcher said. No further details were immediately released.
