Several motorists were injured today when an “inattentive” driver failed to notice traffic that had slowed and rammed into the back of another vehicle, it was reported today.

According to California Highway Patrol officer Randy Costelow, each of the occupants in the two cars were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The crash, which was first reported at 2:42 p.m., occurred when a car traveling southbound on Highway 79 just north of Stowe Rd. in Winchester plowed into an older model Honda that was attempting to make a left turn into Winchester Farms Market, Costelow said.

Alcohol or drugs was not believed to be a factor in the car.

Costelow reminded all drivers to keep their eyes on the road at all times.
